Kickboxing is coming to Midtown Row.
Broad Street Realty, owner of Midtown Row, announced Tuesday evening they have agreed to a lease with 9Round.
9Round is a kickboxing studio that will be located in the Monticello Shopping Center, according to Brynn Jacoby, Broad Street’s director of marketing. Jacoby said the gym is expected to open in the fall next to Soaps & Suds.
The studio promises a 30-minute, full-body workout that will take members through nine stations. 9Round does not offer classes; rather, members can work out with the help of a trainer on their own schedule. The gym caters to those of all ages and fitness levels.
“9round supports our vision for Midtown Row by bringing experiential retail that will appeal to both the community at large and future Midtown residents,” Broad Street said in a statement to WYDaily. “We see lots of synergy between 9Round and the shoppers at Earth Fare. This is just one more step towards curating a diverse retail mix of local and national tenants offering great experiences, services, dining, and goods.
The company has studios worldwide and nearly 30 in Virginia. Locations include Richmond, Virginia Beach and on Victory Boulevard in Yorktown. Membership rates vary by location.
Midtown Row is composed of the Williamsburg Shopping Center and the Monticello Shopping Center, near the intersection of Richmond Road and Monticello Avenue.
The project will entail the redevelopment of the two shopping centers into a retail and residential hub.
Midtown Row’s lineup of tenants includes existing businesses such as Ace Hardware, Sal’s by Victor, Food Lion, a Virginia ABC liquor store, Nawab Indian Cuisine and the recently opened Earth Fare grocery store.
Residents will begin moving in to Midtown Row’s apartments in the summer of 2020.
9Round did not immediately respond to request for comment.
