Bike park-to-park next weekend in James City County

The annual Park to Park Bicycle Tour is returning to James City County for its 20th year July 14.

Participants can ride as little or as much as they like, or they can choose from self-guided tours of 15, 30 and 50 miles.

All tours begin and end at the James City County Marina, 2054 Jamestown Road.

The 15-mile tour begins at 9:30 a.m. and includes stops at Jamestown Settlement and Chickahominy Riverfront Park. Registration is $10.

The 30-mile tour begins at 8 a.m. and visits Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Freedom Park, Veterans Park and the Powhatan Creek Trail. Registration is $15.

The 50-mile tour begins at 8 a.m. visits Little Creek Reservoir Park and Upper County Park in addition to the parks on the 30-mile tour. Registration is $20.

The tour also includes a family ride on the Virginia Capital Trail beginning at 11:30 a.m. Registration is $10.

The registration fee includes refreshments, a pool pass for Chickahominy Riverfront Park, a T-shirt, maps, support vehicles to help out tired riders, lunch at the marina and entertainment by a band, The People Collection.

Participants 17 years old and younger must be accompanied on the ride by a parent or guardian. Children 9 and younger are free, but must be on a tandem bike or in a bike trailer.

All riders must wear helmets.
