Norfolk Festevents, with support from the Patricia and Douglas Perry Foundation, is presenting Virginia Symphony Orchestra’s second annual summer “pops” concert in Norfolk’s Town Point Park.

The concert is free and open to the public.

This year’s concert will feature the music of Elton John and will be conducted by Jeff Phelps, music director of The Governor’s School for the Arts.

Special guests include Jean Meilleur singing lead vocals and John Regan playing piano, paying homage Elton John’s final tour.

The concert is on July 29. Park opens at 6 p.m., show starts at 7:30 p.m.

“We selected The Music of Elton John as the theme for this summer’s Pops Concert as a tribute to Sir Elton John’s last tour and his impact on generations for whom his songs became the soundtracks to our lives,” said Norfolk Festevents CEO Karen Scherberger.

Open-lawn seating allows guests to bring picnics and enjoy dinner on the waterfront before the show. The evening will also include food and beverages for purchase.
