WILLIAMSBURG — A new shop in downtown is making it easier for residents and tourists to bike the ‘burg.
Bike the Burg opened Sunday in a new location on Second Street, bringing a variety of rental bikes and new services to downtown Williamsburg, according to a Bike the Burg press release. The company was founded in 2017 under the name StryByke.
The company is a full-service bike shop and is now offering free bike pick-up and delivery for people living in qualifying areas. Bike the Burg staff will pick up, fix and return bikes to customers’ homes or businesses.
“We recognized that many people don’t have vehicles they can throw their bike into and bring to us for service, so we’ll come to you,” owner Wolt Stryker said.
Stryker said he hopes customers will take advantage of his shop’s location and bike through Colonial Williamsburg and along the Colonial Parkway.
“Making bike rentals available so close to town is a great opportunity for tourists and locals,” Stryker said. “Locals can have a simple and easy family outing or bring their guests to see Williamsburg in a whole new way. We handle the logistics and do the heavy lifting, so adventure seeking families stop in, pick out a bike and set off exploring.”
They offer single and multi-speed cruisers comfort cruisers for men, women and children.
Tandem bikes, electric bikes and even adult tricycles are also available for rent.
For adults, bike rentals cost $35 per day and $150 per week; kids bikes are $25 and $120, respectively.
The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Bike the Burg is located at 170-A Second Street.
