Hampton Roads residents will soon be able to buy groceries from Harris Teeter without leaving their home.

Shipt, an online grocery marketplace, will begin offering same-day delivery from Harris Teeter beginning June 26, according to a news release. The service is available in Hampton Roads and Charlottesville.

Shipt has offered same-day delivery from Target to Hampton Roads residents since March.

Members browse through lists of in-store products online before placing an order. Shipt’s shoppers then go pick up the selected items from the store and deliver them to the member’s home.

“By expanding into new areas of Virginia, and offering well-loved brands through the Shipt platform, we can ensure all Shipt members get a little more time back in their day,” said Bill Smith, founder and chief executive officer of Shipt. “Through our app, everything our members need is right at their fingertips and can be on their kitchen counter in as soon as one hour.”

By registering with Shipt before June 26, new members will receive $50 savings on an annual membership. Membership is usually $99 for one year, but new members can sign up for $49.
