NORFOLK — There are callers leaving phone messages threatening arrests for pending charges, and it’s all a scam, the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Several residents told Sheriff Joe Baron that they’ve received voicemails claiming they have charges pending against them, and if they don’t call back, police will take them into custody.
“Scams like this are becoming more prevalent, and are popping up on a daily basis throughout our communities. So prevalent, that even I’m receiving them,” Baron said. “I would encourage people to be extremely cautious, to ignore these threats, and to block those numbers if they can.”
