The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is seeking information after a 7-year-old girl was assaulted while getting the mail at a residence on Showalter Road.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of Showalter Road in York County around 6:25 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an assault, the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

A 7-year-old girl said she was outside getting the mail when an unknown man in a vehicle pulled up, reached out to her and pulled her hair.

The man did not say anything, the sheriff’s office said.

This appears to be an isolated incident,” the sheriff’s office said. “However, as the investigation continues deputies will be increasing patrols in the area.”

Those with information on the incident could call the sheriff’s office Facebook tip line at 757-890-4999 and refer to report  number 1802552.
