William & Mary is planning to test its emergency alert system Wednesday afternoon.
The test will take place Wednesday at 12:15 p.m., according to a press release. The college will test both its siren system and mass notification messaging system.
The sirens are located above Integrated Science Center, the law school and the School of Education. The sirens are 120 decibels.
The mass notification messaging system notifies students, faculty and staff through emails, phone calls and text messages in the event of campus emergencies.
Emergencies can include severe weather, shots fired and explosions.
Members of the W&M community can update their contact info on the college’s website.
