Man faces murder charge following Wednesday assault, police say

NORFOLK — Police here said a woman, who was hospitalized Wednesday following an assault, died Thursday morning.

Authorities have arrested Robert Anthony Colon, charging the 34-year-old with second-degree murder.

Colon is being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.

Officers responded around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday to the 5400 block of Cape Henry Avenue for an “assault in progress.”

There, they found 36-year-old Melissa Yuhas unresponsive outside a home.

Yuhas was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where she died Thursday morning.

No other details about the case were immediately released, and police are asking anyone who may have information about the incident to call the Norfolk Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP.
