VIRGINIA BEACH — Area residents will have the chance on June 27 to see a free performance of the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band, which since its inception in 1941 has performed in front of more than 1.5 million people.

The Heritage of America Concert Band will play at the Founders Inn at Regent University at 7 p.m.

MSgt. Anne Epperly, NCO in charge and a flutist in the band, said the performance will feature a mix of patriotic music (American Salute/God Bless America), to the fantastical (Superman March/The Planet Krypton), to the whimsical (Irish Tune From County Derry).

“It’s our job to perform in the community and to put a face on the military. We thank people for their support,” Epperly said.

Maj. Michael Hoerber is conductor of the Heritage of America Band, along with 2nd Lt. David Regner. Performing solos during the show will be Airmen First Class Jarrett Kocan (trumpet) and Andrew Reich (trombone).

The show will also feature guest conductors Professor Gary Hill of Arizona State University; Maj. Randy Bartel, commander of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Band; and Lt. Robert Coats, director of the U.S. Navy Fleet Forces Band.

Epperly said the Heritage of America Band is on tour twice a year, and also offers a local performance around the Fourth of July.

The Founders Inn is located at 5641 Indian River Road.
