This double shooting probe just turned into a homicide case

NORFOLK — A man is dead and another injured following a double shooting here.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which happened on June 1. They are asking the public for information.

A man police identified as Maurice Hyman was hospitalized immediately after the incident. He died at the hospital Wednesday.

Hyman was 31 years old.

Authorities said officers were sent to the 900 block of Bagnall Road shortly before noon June 1 on a gunshot disturbance call.

There, the found Hyman “lying on the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound,” police wrote in a news release.

Hyman was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

While officers were investigating the scene, they were told that another 31-year-old man arrived at the same hospital with a “non-life-threatening” gunshot wound.

Police said the two men were shot in the 900 block of Bagnall Road.

No other information was immediately released.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have information about the shooting to call the Norfolk Crime Line at 888-LOCK-U-UP.
