VIRGINIA BEACH — A bicyclist who was severely injured following a crash Saturday in the 300 block of Pacific Avenue at 16th Street has died.
Police identified the man as Gabriel Borja Santos of Virginia Beach. He was 35 years old.
Authorities said Santos was riding his bicycle east to cross Pacific Avenue at 16th Street at around 10:04 a.m. Saturday.
A Kia Sorento in the southbound lane struck Santos on the south side of the intersection.
The driver of the Sorento remained on scene.
“The victim was riding his bicycle in the crosswalk and did not have the right of way,” police wrote in a news release. “There are no charges pending for the driver of the vehicle. “
