An Illinois man died and a woman was injured in a Sunday morning motorcycle crash on Interstate 64 in York County.

Donald L. Losey, 66, of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, and his wife were traveling westbound on a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle around 8:30 a.m. Sunday when Losey lost control of the bike, Virginia State Police Sgt. Michelle Anaya said.

The motorcycle was west of mile-marker 240 when it ran off the roadway and drove into the treeline, Anaya said.

Losey suffered life-threatening injuries from the accident and died at the scene.

Losey’s wife, who was sitting on the motorcycle’s second seat, also suffered life-threatening injuries. She was transported by medics to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News.

Police do not believe alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.

Notification has been made to Losey’s family members.
