McDonald’s and ECPI University are teaming up to offer three job fairs in Hampton Roads, and offering tuition assistance in an effort to attract applicants interested in going to college.
The job fairs will be held on June 13 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Virginia Beach (5555 Greenwich Road) and June 15 in Newport News (1001 Omni Blvd. #100) and Norfolk at the Culinary Institute of Virginia (2428 Alameda Ave.), also from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“ECPI University recognizes the need to foster a relationship with our growing workforce development community by connecting them with opportunities in higher education that will make the cost of tuition affordable for prospective students,” said Sara Stone, ECPI campus director of career services. “McDonald’s is a huge employer in our country and has franchises located in all of our campus territories, so naturally this seemed like a good fit to make a connection with young adults who may be looking to further their own professional development and careers.”
Through its Archways to Opportunity Tuition Assistance Program, McDonald’s offers $2,500 in tuition assistance to its restaurant crews and $3,000 for managers.
ECPI will match that amount through its Educational Partnership Program, while also waiving application and registration fees. The school will also provide a 15 percent tuition discount for McDonald’s employees and their immediate family members who do not qualify for EPP monies.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for McDonald’s and ECPI,” said Terrance McRae, regional human resources manager for McDonald’s. “The job fairs will provide owner/operators the opportunity to meet with college-focused applicants who can grow with McDonald’s, and ECPI will be able to introduce itself to prospective students.”
The job fairs are open to the public and no appointment is necessary. Questions can be directed to 240-497-3733.
