VIRGINIA BEACH — Police believe speed and alcohol played a part in a crash that sent a man to the hospital with “life-threatening” injuries early Monday.
The crash happened around 1:55 a.m. on Oceana Boulevard near the jet viewing area.
Police did not release the man’s identity. An initial investigation indicated he was driving a vehicle north on Oceana Boulevard when he lost control of the vehicle.
Authorities said the vehicle left the roadway, “striking several fixed objects before entering a wooded area and then striking trees.”
It went airborne and the man was ejected from the vehicle, police said.
“He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries,” police said in a news release.
No other information about the crash was immediately released.
