VIRGINIA BEACH — National Weather Service meteorologists in Wakefield are calling for chances of rain through the weekend.
In a short weather statement following Monday night’s storm, meteorologists said hazardous weather is not expected Tuesday, but “increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms are anticipated from Wednesday through the end of the week.”
And although severe weather is not anticipated, “the potential exists for locally heavy rainfall.”
There’s a 40 percent chance of showers, then a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms Wednesday, with a predicted daytime high of 82 degrees under mostly cloudy skies, and overnight low of 68.
The chance for thunderstorms increase for Thursday, 70 percent. It’s also going to be warm, humid and cloudy with a forecast high of 80 and a low of 70.
So far, meteorologists are calling for 40 to 50 percent chance of showers the rest of the week and through the weekend, with predicted daytime highs in the lower 80s and overnight lows in the upper 60s.
