Dancing with the Williamsburg Stars raised the bar in its ninth year.

Nearly $125,000 was raised for two charities in the annual night of tango, salsa, and foxtrot, according to a press release from the Howell Creative Group.

Literacy for Life and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater VA Peninsula each received $50,000.

The annual Dancing with the Williamsburg Stars was held March 3 at the Phi Beta Kappa Hall. The sold-out show drew more than 700 attendees to watch the competition.

Twelve local stars competed in the fundraiser, and were each were paired with professional dancers.

Participants in the show are chosen based on their community influence, involvement and love from people in the area – hence, “Williamsburg stars.”

The show was hosted by Abbitt Realty.
