VIRGINIA BEACH — A man’s motive for allegedly stealing an ambulance remains unclear, and police are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
And not only did the man steal the ambulance, he crashed it too, authorities said.
Theodore E. Gaslorowski, 27, of the 4200 block of South 2nd Street, Milwaukee, Wis. is charged with grand larceny and DUI. He is being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.
Police said Thursday around 9:46 p.m. an ambulance crew dropped off a patient at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital.
When they got out of the hospital the crew “discovered the ambulance missing,” police said in a news release.
Officers found the ambulance overturned in the 2200 block of London Bridge Road. Gaslorowski was trapped inside.
Police got him out and he was taken to the hospital. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
The ambulance was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
