Farm Fresh parent company Supervalu in March announced the closing and sale of 21 of its 38 grocery stores in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina.
The stores are all closing on different dates leading up to May 14, when more than 1,000 Farm Fresh employees will be laid off.
Three different retailers — Kroger, Harris Teeter and Food Lion — will purchase the Farm Fresh locations for a combined $43 million.
Here’s a look at the four stores that have recently closed or will be closing in April.
Closed Wednesday, April 18
- Haygood: 1069 Independence Blvd., Virginia Beach.
- Oceanfront: 521 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach.

Closing April 26
- Great Neck: 2110 Great Neck Shopping Center, Virginia Beach.
- Wards Corner: 230 E Little Creek Road, Norfolk.

Farm Fresh was founded in 1957 and has operated in Virginia for 60 years. The company currently employs about 3,300 associates. SuperValu employs around 31,000 people across more than 3,300 stores nationwide, under five different retail companies.
