A William & Mary student has been charged with several felony counts of possession of child pornography.
Turner C. August, 19, of Richmond, was arrested April 6 and charged with six felony counts of possession of child pornography, according to a William & Mary arrest report.
The report said he was arrested at 7:30 a.m. at Griffin D, which is part of the residential Green & Gold Village at William & Mary.
He was transported to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
According to college spokeswoman Suzanne Seurattan, college officials do not comment on campus disciplinary matters, which is in accordance with the Federal Family Rights and Privacy Act.
“What I can tell you generally is that any criminal matter involving a student could initiate our internal student disciplinary process,” Seurattan wrote in an email Friday. “…Sanctions, if found in violation of the student conduct policy, could range from warning to suspension or dismissal depending on the severity of the incident and past experience with the individual.”
Online court records for the Williamsburg-James City County General District Court state August was released on bail and his case was transferred to another court or jurisdiction on April 10.
Online records do not specify which court the case was transferred to.
