VIRGINIA BEACH — The Department of Housing and Neighborhood Preservation is accepting public comments on its proposed Annual Action Plan for the 2018 fiscal year (July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019).

The plan outlines how the department will use and allocate more than $4 million in funding under the following federal entitlement grants:

These funds have been used to support programs to address various affordable housing needs in the city, including homelessness, creating affordable housing opportunities and providing home rehabilitation grants and loans for low- to moderate-income homeowners, according to a news release from the city.

Residents can view the draft Annual Action Plan and provide comments at www.publicinput.com/AnnualActionPlan.

A public hearing will be on Wednesday, April 25, at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Center, Building 21, 2408 Courthouse Drive. The 30-day comment period ends on May 11.

Final fund allocations are subject to City Council appropriation and approval of the Annual Action Plan by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, according to the news release.
