The Classic Cruisers Car Club of Yorktown has been hosting family events for more than two decades and it’s raised more than $200,000 for local charities. Now it’s time to celebrate.
The club will kick off its 25th season on April 14 with weekly Saturday Night Cruise-ins from 5-9 p.m. at the Coastal Community Church in Yorktown, according to a news release.
Cruise-ins are held to display a range of car models, from classics to imports, for families and automotive enthusiasts to enjoy. Spectators can interact with car owners and hear the stories behind the vehicles.
The Classic Cruisers Car Club has approximately 70 members. Their backgrounds include NASA employees and military personnel who enjoy sharing the tales behind their cars, the release said.
There’s a $2 minimum donation to display a vehicle. While there’s no fee to come to the event, donations are welcome and are given to charity.
This year, the club will sponsor three car shows, which require a $10 registration fee and will benefit the following causes:
- May 28 at the Coastal Community Church to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
- July 4 at Shorty’s Diner to benefit the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.
- Sept. 3 at the Coastal Community Church to benefit the building fund for the church.
There’s more information about cruise-ins and car shows on the club’s website.
