The York County Public Library has a full calendar of events lined up this April, with something in store for every age group.
According to a library press release, the following programs are free and open to the public:
Kids Run Trains will give kids the chance to play with and operate Lionel toy trains at the Tabb Library. The event will be held between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. April 7 and 1 to 3 p.m. April 8.
Tidewater Reads is highlighting the works of bestselling author Kwame Alexander. Events include a Poetry, Prose and Pizza Open Mic Night between 5 and 7 p.m. on April 14 at the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center in Newport News. Alexander will also be available for a meet-and-greet and book signing April 28 at the Slover Library in Norfolk.
The Division of Motor Vehicles’ DMV Connect program will allow residents to take care of all DMV transactions, except for vital records and testing. DMV Connect will visit the Yorktown Library meeting room April 18 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The Live Well @ Your Library and Explore @ Your Library series carry over into April with several program in both the Tabb and Yorktown libraries. Each program requires registration in advance. The programs include:
- Gentle Yoga on April 9 at 11:30 a.m., Yorktown Library
- Raising Chickens on April 14 at 3 p.m., Tabb Library
- Gentle Yoga on April 16 at 11:30 a.m., Tabb
- Lawn Care 101 on April 21 at 10:15 a.m., Yorktown
- VHDA First-time Homebuyer Class on April 21 at 10:15 a.m., Tabb
- A Welcome to Mindfulness on April 25 at 10:30 a.m., Yorktown
- Everyday Mindfulness on April 27 at 10:30 a.m., Tabb
Other York County Public Library April events for children include:
- Kids Create—Poetry Monster on April 10 at 4:30 p.m., Tabb. Registration is required.
- Snuggle Stories on April 12 at 7 p.m., Tabb
- Lego Time on April 20 at 3:30 p.m., Yorktown
- Saturday Science—Earth Day on April 21 at 1 p.m., Yorktown. Registration is required.
- Lego Mania—Family Fun Event on April 22 at 2 p.m., families, Tabb
- Monday Morning Homeschoolers—Puzzles & Card Games at 10:30 a.m., Tabb. Registration begins April 16.
- Paws to Read on April 28 at 2 p.m., Tabb
