VIRGINIA BEACH — A juvenile playing with fire started a Thursday afternoon blaze that heavily damaged two homes and displaced two families, fire officials said Friday.
Further information was not immediately released.
The 2-alarm fire in the 500 block of Grant Avenue also claimed the life of a cat.
Crews who were initially dispatched to the call at 3:15 p.m. Thursday immediately called out a second alarm after seeing heavy smoke and flames coming from both homes. Additional firefighters were sent to the scene.
Investigators on Thursday suspect the fire started in a shed between the homes.
