The circumstances surrounding a single-vehicle crash Thursday that seriously injured the driver remain under investigation, according to Virginia Beach Police.
Very few details have been released about the March 29 crash, but police said in a news release that alcohol and speeding may have played a part in the crash. Additional details, police said, will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.
On March 29, emergency crews responded to a report of an overturned vehicle on Northampton Boulevard, south of Shore Drive. First responders arrived at the scene at 6:35 a.m. to find the upended vehicle, according to a news release.
The driver had been ejected from the car and suffered serious injuries, police said. According to the preliminary investigation, it appeared the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail.
The driver was taken to a local hospital by Virginia Beach Emergency Medical Service.
