He supplied a deadly mixture of heroin, fentanyl in Virginia Beach. Now this ‘King of Death’ dealer is headed to prison

VIRGINIA BEACH — A New Jersey man will spend 37 years in prison for his part in a conspiracy to deal a deadly mixture of heroin and fentanyl, called the “King of Death,” to people in Hampton Roads.

Rashad Clark, 38, was sentenced in federal court on Monday. The sentence came after Clark supplied a 33-year-old drug dealer from Chesapeake, Erskine Dawson, Jr., with the heroin and fentanyl mixture from September to December 2016, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Clark brought the drugs from New Jersey to Virginia by putting them into wax baggies and hiding them in stuffed animals. They were labeled with names like “King of Death,” “Last Call” and “Steph Curry,” according to the DOJ.

Clark brought the drugs to a Studios 4 Less motel in Virginia Beach. He stayed at the motel for several days each time he trafficked drugs to oversee Dawson’s operation.

Two people died after consuming the heroin and fentanyl mixture, according to the DOJ.

Agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration, and Virginia Beach and Chesapeake police officers searched motels in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Norfolk on Dec. 8. They recovered guns and more than 1,800 wax bags of heroin and fentanyl. They also discovered that more than $70,000 in cash was deposited into a Wells Fargo account controlled by Clark from September to December 2016, according to the DOJ.

Eight people were charged, and seven have been sentenced. A man identified as Kenneth Stuart will be sentenced on April 24 and faces a mandatory term of life in prison for his part in the conspiracy.
