As motorists hit the road for the Easter holiday, they can expect fewer lane closures.

Most highway work zones will be suspended and most lane closures will be lifted on interstates and other major roads in Virginia from noon on March 30 until noon on April 3, according to a news release from VDOT.

I-64, I-264 and I-564 HOV diamond lanes will have no restrictions or express lane tolls on Easter Sunday.

While the lane closure lift is in effect for most areas, motorists may encounter semi-permanent work zones that remain in place during the holiday weekend, according to the news release.

Local traffic to Virginia Beach is encouraged to use the I-664 Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel as an alternative to the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel.

A full list of lane closures can be found on VDOT’s website. Motorists can also call VDOT’s Customer Service Center at 800-367-7623 to report a road problem or get answers to transportation questions.
