Local group to hold candlelight vigil to highlight National Child Abuse Prevention Month

The Child Abuse Prevention Coalition of Greater Williamsburg is set to hold its 21st annual candlelight vigil to raise awareness of child abuse.

The vigil will be held on March 27 from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the King of Glory Lutheran Church at 4897 Longhill Road in James City County, according to a James City County news release.

The event will honor children whose lives have been affected by abuse or neglect, as well as raise awareness for the plight of those children while providing tips for abuse prevention.

The group will host community vendors to provide information about their anti-abuse services as well as entertainment and a drawing contest for children.

The event will kick off National Child Abuse Prevention month in April.

Blue ribbons supporting abuse prevention will be available in county buildings and offices in March and April, according to the release.
