The Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra will perform “Ady’s American Adventure” from the Virginia Regional Ballet next month.
Janna Hymes, WSO music director, will conduct the concert and ballet performance at 4:30 p.m. on March 4 at the Williamsburg Community Chapel, located at 3899 John Tyler Highway.
“Ady’s American Adventure” is the story of a young boy who immigrated to the United States in the 1920s. On his journey to Carnegie, Texas, the boy encounters different genres of music and various musicians.
Artist Bob Oller will also have a rendering on hand of Ady. The rendering will be included in the projections and other adaptations during the concert to bring Ady to life even more, according to a Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra news release.
“This concert is so special, as it showcases the unique differences in American music and will introduce young people to famous American composers in a fun and magical way,” said Carolyn Keurajian, executive director of the WSO, in the news release. “The larger story conveys how diversity of music and people build a rich and special country we call America. We are so excited to bring this concert to the community, and hope that parents and grandparents will find this a wonderful opportunity to introduce children to the joys of orchestral music through the unique lens of Ady.”
Tickets for the concert are $25 for adults, $12 for children ages 3-18, and children 3 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased on the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra ticket website.
