Authorities seek person behind broken car windows, stolen checks in York neighborhood

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office is looking for a woman who passed checks that were stolen from cars in York County.

On Feb. 1, deputies responded to the 300 block of Village Avenue for a report of larcenies from cars, according to a sheriff’s office Facebook post.

An unknown person broke windows in two cars and stole property, including checks.

Later, a woman passed the checks at various banks in Hampton Roads, including in Suffolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth and Chesapeake.

Surveillance photos from the banks show a woman with long, dark hair driving a white Hyundai.
