Did you lose a loved one in a war or while serving the public in law enforcement, EMS or the fire department?

Williamsburg Parks and Recreation is looking to honor fallen fire, EMS, law enforcement, and military members with an event at Waller Mill Park on Armed Forces Day in May, according to a City of Williamsburg news release.

“Many of our neighbors, friends and family know someone that has lost their life in the line of duty,” Williamsburg Parks and Recreation spokesperson Robbi Hutton wrote in an email.

The city department is soliciting biographies and written remembrances of loved ones who died in the line of duty.

Remembrance signs of fallen loved ones will be displayed at Waller Mill Park on May 19 for the “Memorial Mile.”

“Creating the Memorial Mile is an opportunity for us to honor and remember the sacrifice of our fallen Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement and Military members on Armed Forces Day,  by sharing their stories of bravery along the asphalt trail at Waller Mill Park,” Hutton wrote.

Submit a short biography, story, and photograph of the ‘honoree’ here.
