Amazon’s list of locations for HQ2, its second North American headquarters, has been narrowed down to 20 spots but Hampton Roads has missed the cut.
In October, it was reported that Virginia was pitching three locations in Hampton Roads among 10 statewide submissions. The three Hampton Roads sites — Town Center in Virginia Beach, Harbour View in Suffolk and Fort Monroe in Hampton — did not make the cut.
Northern Virginia, Washington D.C., and Raleigh, North Carolina are among the 20 finalists. To view all the finalists, click here.

“Thank you to all 238 communities that submitted proposals. Getting from 238 to 20 was very tough – all the proposals showed tremendous enthusiasm and creativity,” Holly Sullivan from Amazon’s public policy team said. “Through this process we learned about many new communities across North America that we will consider as locations for future infrastructure investment and job creation.”
Amazon says it expects to invest more than $5 billion in construction once a site is selected. The second headquarters will include as many as 50,000 jobs.
