Your latest snow-related updates in Williamsburg, James City and York counties

As the weekend continues, WYDaily has compiled a list of the snow-related updates from the winter storm.  

City of Williamsburg: 

Garbage collection is completed except the Holly Hills Carriage Homes neighborhood. They will be serviced Saturday morning. Any remaining pick-up will be part of regularly scheduled collection next week

Recycling collection has been rescheduled to Saturday, January 6.

W&M will reopen at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 6.

The Capitol Landing Road bridge at Lafayette Street will remain closed until icing is no longer an issue. The Neighborhood Council of Williamsburg meeting has been rescheduled to Saturday, January 13.

York County:

Garbage collection will run the following schedule for the remaining RED WEEK recycling routes:

Wednesday 1-3-18 (will be run on Saturday 1-6-18)
Thursday 1-4-18 (will be run on Sunday 1-7-18)
Friday 1-5-18 (will be run on Monday 1-8-18)
BLUE WEEK pickups will be one day behind next week:

Monday 1-8-18 (will be run on Tuesday 1-9-18)
Tuesday 1-9-18 (will be run on Wednesday 1-10-18)
Wednesday 1-10-18 (will be run on Thursday 1-11-18)
Thursday 1-11-18 (will be run on Friday 1-12-18)
Friday 1-12-18 (will be run on Saturday 1-13-18)
All York County Parks and Rec programs, including private activities that utilize county facilities, have been canceled for Saturday.

James City County:

Curbside recycling will not be collected. Visit ‪vppsa.org‬ for more information.

Road Conditions
Primary Roads:
Rt. 199 has been plowed and salted. However, much of the plowed snow has accumulated on the entry/exit ramps making entry and exit onto 199 treacherous. Pocahontas Trail and Merrimac Trail have been plowed but not treated with salt. These roads are clear near major intersections, but still heavy with packed snow outside of these intersections. Richmond Road has been plowed and treated.

Secondary Roads:
Some secondary roads have been plowed but many still have packed snow and ice.
 
Neighborhood Roads:
Neighborhood roads have not been plowed.

Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown are scheduled to open to the public at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5.

They will also be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Sentara Healthcare:
All Sentara Medical Group Hospitals in Hampton Roads will be open Friday, according to a Sentara press release.

Peninsula-based Sentara practices will open at 10:00 a.m. Friday. Patients should call their individual SMG office before heading out for an appointment or walk-in visit.

Velocity Urgent Care Centers will remain open during their normal operating hours, but that is also subject to change depending on the weather.

Naval Weapons Station Yorktown:
MWR’s Yorktown Gym, Twin Pin Bowling Center, The Depo, and Outdoor Rec. will all resume normal operating hours on Saturday. The Golf Course will remain closed until further notice.

Cranstons Mill Pond Road:
Cranstons Mill Pond Road will be shut down until further notice due to hazardous road conditions, according to an email from Torbet Lovelace.
