Just in time for the holiday season, the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control is holding a special lottery for Virginia residents.

Starting on Dec. 6, Virginia ABC customers can enter for the chance to purchase rare bourbons from the Van Winkle series. The bourbon’s popularity has provided the Van Winkle brand with a cult following of sorts, one that has spread way beyond the borders of Kentucky where it all began more than 100 years ago.

Since the bourbon is hard to come by, ABC is giving all Virginian’s an equal opportunity to earn the right to purchase it. Customers can enter the lottery to purchase a four-bottle set or one of the select bottles in the lottery.

The offerings range in price from $59.99 to $999.99. Each of the five lotteries will be open for five days between Dec. 6 and Jan. 14, and winners will be selected at random. To make a winning purchase, residents must choose their preferred store and provide a valid Virginia photo ID.
