NORFOLK — A fugitive who engaged in a 12-hour standoff with local and federal officials has been charged with possession of a gun in connection with a drug trafficking crime.
The United States Marshals Service has released few details about Alfa Amine Kamara, a wanted fugitive who was arrested Tuesday morning near the intersection of 43rd Street and Killam Avenue, Deputy U.S. Marshal Chris Leuer wrote in an email.
The arrest came just after 2 a.m., about 12 hours after nearby Old Dominion University students were alerted to the active investigation via a text alert.
The investigation included federal agents, as well as officers from the Norfolk Police Department and the city’s bomb squad.
