Mrs. Claus deserves cookies too this holiday season as she spreads cheer through volunteer ideas and workshops.
Throughout the holiday season, Mrs. Claus and her elves are honoring World Kindness Day with big and small gestures, according to a Busch Gardens news release.
In weekly Facebook Live sessions, Mrs. Claus will share volunteer ideas and opportunities for families to do together with the support of Busch Gardens and Water Country USA. The livestreams will also include tips for surviving the holiday season.
Team members from the two parks will come together in support of numerous local organizations and community outreach programs located throughout Coastal Virginia, the release said.
The series can be viewed each Wednesday at 8 p.m. through Christmas at the handle @BuschGardensVA. The Busch Gardens YouTube channel also features videos such as “House Hunting with the Clauses,” in which Mr. and Mrs. Claus look for a home inside the park.
This program comes in an effort for Busch Gardens to log 5,000 volunteer hours throughout the holiday season, the release said.
Volunteers can log their hours online as they complete service activities. If the goal is met, both Busch Gardens and Water Country USA will donate 5,000 hours of community outreach in the new year, according to the release.
Busch Gardens is measuring the volunteer hours with “Mrs. Claus’ Kindness Meter,” which is a virtual Christmas tree that gains more lights as more hours are logged. The Busch Gardens website also features a list of volunteer ideas that include serving at a soup kitchen, sending care packages to service members and even simply dropping off a meal to a neighbor.
