Plan ahead: Virginia ABC stores to close for Thanksgiving

If your Thanksgiving celebration isn’t complete without bourbon, vodka or other hard stuff, don’t plan on stocking up at the last minute.

Virginia ABC stores will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23, according to a release from the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Before the holiday, stores will be open during regular business hours on Wednesday, Nov. 22, “to accommodate the anticipated increase in customer purchases for family gatherings during the extended weekend,” the release said.

After Thanksgiving, ABC stores will have special sales for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

On Friday, they’ll offer 15 percent in-store discounts on pretax purchases between $75 and $99.99 and 20-percent discounts on pretax purchases of $100 or more.

On Monday, Nov. 27, to coincide with Cyber Monday, Virginia ABC’s online sales of select products will be discounted by 20 percent.
