VIRGINIA BEACH — In an attack that may have been motivated by diapers, a 22-year-old woman is accused of stabbing her husband. After her arrest, police searched her home and found a marijuana grow operation, according to court documents.
Shatoine Ramona Gray was charged with malicious wounding and possession with intent to distribute marijuana on Nov. 4, Virginia Beach courts spokeswoman Macie Allen wrote in an email.
Gray’s arrest came after she allegedly stabbed her husband multiple times. A witness took the man to Sentara Leigh Hospital around 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 4 after watching Gray allegedly chase her husband while carrying a pack of diapers, according to documents filed in Virginia Beach Circuit Court.
The witness told police Gray’s husband was “bleeding profusely,” and medical professionals determined he’d been stabbed multiple times, court documents state.
The witness said that while they were on their way to the hospital, Gray’s husband said he couldn’t believe she’d stabbed him “over a pack of diapers” and him being late, according to court documents.
Police tried to interview Gray’s husband at the hospital, but he wouldn’t go into detail about the alleged attack. Gray called the hospital several times to check on her husband before he was transferred to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, court documents state.
Police spoke to Gray and she told them she was at the home in the 800 block of Caribe Place. When police arrived, Gray was arrested. She asked them to go into the house and get her baby, and while they were in the home they found a “marijuana grow operation,” according to court documents.
Police got a warrant and searched the home further and found shears, marijuana plants, grow equipment, 4.96 grams of “plant-like” material, a white pill, $280 in cash, a rolled marijuana cigarette and a clear bag with “green leafy material,” according to court documents.
Gray is scheduled to appear in Virginia Beach General District Court on Jan. 4, 2018.
