James City County fire crews are on the scene of a “small” fire at the Ford’s Colony maintenance building on Centerville Road, according to fire officials.

The James City County Fire Department received a call at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday about a fire at the building, located at 5360 Centerville Road, according to Batallion Chief Al Catlett.

Fire crews arrived to find smoke coming from the shop area of the maintenance building, Catlett said.

The fire had been marked under control at 1:10 p.m., Catlett said.

The maintenance building is near D.J. Montague Elementary School, but Catlett said the school was not affected by the fire.

Police were directing traffic on Centerville Road, James City County Police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.
