VIRGINIA BEACH – Southsiders will head to the polls in just over a week to elect their next governor and other officials. To celebrate, a local library is hosting their 4th Annual Election Day Block Party.

On Nov. 7, Bayside Area Library, located at 936 Independence Blvd., wants you to come celebrate your right to vote.

Beginning at 11 a.m. residents can get patriotic with live music, crafts, a moon bounce for the kids and special appearances by local police and fire staff and the Chik-fil-A cow.

The library, built in 1967, is also celebrating its 50th birthday. Library guests can make lava lamps and flower headbands to relive the decade of its birth. There will be birthday cake, too.

Live performances will be given by the U.S. Navy TRADOC Band, Bayside High School dance group and School of Rock.
