VIRGINIA BEACH — The craft beer scene will be spreading to the ViBe Creative District as Virginia Beach prepares to welcome its latest brewery.
Vibrant Shore Brewing Company is slated to open a 2,584-square-foot brewery and tasting room at 505 18th Street in June 2018, bringing the independent brewery total to 12 in Virginia Beach.
“We are excited to open this family owned, independent brewery in the heart of Virginia Beach’s creative ViBe District,” owner Rhett Rebold wrote in a press release.
“We’re especially eager to join the artists and other creatives who have such a strong sense of community and interesting, well-established businesses there,” he continued. “Vibrant Shore Brewing Company hopes to blend the fine art of brewing with our commitment to promote, grow and serve as an integral part of the vibrant, local visual and acoustic arts community.”
The new brewery will feature a 10-barrel brewing system, a tasting room and a 609-square-foot outdoor seating area on the roof of the building.
Vibrant Shore Brewing Company made a capital investment of $827,800 to purchase the location, which currently houses the Red Flag Athletics cross-training facility. Along with the brewer’s investment, Vibrant Shore also received a $20,000 grant from the Virginia Beach Development Authority.
“This is a great new addition to the Vibe Creative District and a great re-use of an existing property,” Virginia Beach Economic Development Director Warren D. Harris wrote in a press release. “We have a thriving craft brewery community, and we are always eager to support our small and entrepreneurial businesses. We are also pleased that 10 new jobs will be created in Virginia Beach.”
