Dominion: Nearly 100 lose power after electrical pole damaged in car crash

VIRGINIA BEACH — Nearly 100 people are without power in Virginia Beach after an electrical pole was damaged during a car crash on Friday afternoon.

The crash happened near the area of Rosemont Road and Bonney Road at 12:22 p.m. During the crash, a driver hit a power pole causing 937 people to lose power, said Dominion Virginia Power spokeswoman Bonita Harris.

Harris could not confirm the exact location of the crash, but the Virginia Beach Police Department confirmed they are at the scene of Rosemont Road and Chester Street helping with traffic control as the Virginia Beach Police Department deals with a downed power pole.

Harris said Dominion workers are en route to the site of the accident to asses the damage to the pole. She could not estimate how long it would take Dominion to restore power to customers, but said that the company is trying to reroute people to another source of power.
