Norfolk police: Murder suspect arrested in Virginia Beach hotel

NORFOLK — A second person has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 23-year-old man in May, police said.

Tiara Deanne Rivera, 22, was arrested Tuesday night at a hotel in the 5700 block of Northampton Boulevard in Virginia Beach without incident by the Norfolk police fugitive squad and the U.S. Marshals. Rivera was charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

On May 21, police were called to the 1100 block of East Ocean View Avenue for reports of a shooting. Responding officers located Richard Eyerman. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

On June 7, the first suspect, 22-year-old Jamal Branch, was arrested at a home in Portsmouth. He was also charged with second-degree murder.

Rivera is being held at Norfolk City Jail without bond. Branch is scheduled for a court appearance on Sept. 21.
