NORFOLK – Looking for a calendar for the new year? Look no further. You can have 12 months of cute cats and dogs – along with muscle-bound men.

For $20, you can gaze at them all for an entire year.

The Norfolk SPCA is soon releasing its 2018 Magic Mutt calendar, which will feature some of the shelter’s animals with more than a dozen of Hampton Roads most fit men.

According to a news release, more than 100 men applied to appear in the SPCA’s calendar, now in its second year of publication. Two separate contests were used to select the models, which raised nearly $10,000 for the no-kill adoption center and veterinary clinic.

Thirteen men were selected to appear with shelter pets, while one model was chosen in an online contest.

“I am extremely excited to help animals by appearing in the Magic Mutt calendar,” said cover model Michael Carey in the release. “I am even more thrilled to have been selected to be on the front of it. The calendar and event are a terrific and fun way to support shelter pets.”

This year’s models will introduce themselves and sign calendars at the debut party at Granby Theater on Oct. 7. The party will also feature live music by local band Cheap Thrills and a silent auction.

The party begins at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are $100, which includes food, drinks and valet parking. Proceeds from the calendar and event ticket will benefit the Norfolk SPCA, which adopted out almost 1,000 pets and provided medical care to more than 10,000 animals in 2016.

Tickets and calendars can be purchased online or directly at the SPCA, located at 916 Ballentine Blvd.
