VIRGINIA BEACH – Want to help feed families this Thanksgiving? You can – by donating gently or unworn shoes to Rose and Womble Realty.
The realty company will collect donated kicks through Aug. 22 at all office locations. The shoes will be weighed, and depending on that total, funds will be given to the Rose and Womble Foundation to fund the purchase of holiday food baskets.
“We are excited about our shoe drive,” said Bea CoBell, vice president of the foundation, in a news release. “We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they would like to donate. By doing so, we raise money to help local families through the Thanksgiving Basket Brigade, and then through Funds2Org families in developing nations are given economic opportunities. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
The donated shoes will be given to the Funds2orgs network of micro-enterprises in developing nations. Each pair will be distributed throughout the region and across the world.
