Photos: Active shooting leads to barricade at Williamsburg auto shop

A shooting inside a Second Street auto shop led to an hours-long standoff between police and the suspect, who was taken into custody just after 12:20 p.m.

According to police, the suspect barricaded himself inside Ebby’s Auto Painting/ Collision Shop in York County Tuesday morning after shooting an employee just before 9 a.m.

The area surrounding the auto shop was closed as police created a perimeter. According to Sheriff Danny Diggs of the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office was assisted by James City County police, the FBI, the ATF, Virginia State Police, Newport News Fire Department and York County Fire Department.

The standoff ended when deputies broke into the auto shop and deployed tear gas and tasers on the suspect, who police confirmed as 40-year old Hampton resident Michael Sean Taylor.
