Virginia Beach police searching for armed man on TCC campus

VIRGINIA BEACH — Police are searching for an armed man accused of trying to assault a Tidewater Community College teacher on the Virginia Beach campus.

According to the Virginia Beach Police Department, the teacher was inside a bathroom when the man entered it and pointed a gun at her. She screamed, and the man left the bathroom.

The man tried to assault the teacher in the Virginia Beach Building at the campus around 3 p.m., located at 1700 College Crescent.

There was a temporary shelter in place around 4 p.m. so officials could determine if the man was still on campus, but that has been lifted, said TCC spokeswoman Marian Anderfuren.

VBPD officers are on campus searching for him.

The man is described as six feet tall and wearing a white shirt and camouflage pants. Officials say he is armed with a handgun.
