Driver charged with reckless driving after tractor-trailer overturns

On the morning of June 22 a tractor-trailer flipped on Interstate 64 westbound, causing a several-mile backup for about two hours. Following the incident, the truck driver, Cortney Lynn Slater, 29, was charged with reckless driving. Click here to read more.

Stay-at-home mom can pilot a Black Hawk

Melissa Bell, a 41-year-old mother of three, served as a Major in the Army for over 10 years. Bell graduated from West Point in 1997 and has flown 1,110 hours in her military career. Bell now focuses her time on her children and gaining an MBA at William and Mary. Click here to read more.

Feds OK firing up Yorktown coal plants

The Department of Energy has allowed electrical distribution company PMJ to keep operating two coal-fired power plant in Yorktown. Dominion Energy will operate the plant during emergency situations to prevent widespread, rolling blackouts. Click here to read more.

Recent Grafton grad runs as own school board rep

Nathan Kaw-uh, an 18-year-old Grafton High School graduate, will campaign for a seat on the York County School Board. Kaw-uh believes his last four years in the school system will be helpful if he wins the seat. Kaw-uh plans to voice the complaints of students and teachers alike if he is elected to the York County School Board. Click here to read more.
