James City County motorists may find their delays during weekend morning drives on June 10 and June 11 as a result of two Jamestown triathlons.

According to a county press release, the Jamestown International Triathlon and the Jamestown Sprint Triathlon, which are expected to attract several hundred participants, will affect normal morning weekend traffic.

The triathlons will cause short-term road delays on parts of roads throughout James City County.

From 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m Saturday, drivers traveling on Jamestown Road near the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry will meet delays. Traffic on Greensprings Road, 4H Club Road and John Tyler Highway will also be affected by the triathlons on Saturday.

On both Saturday and Sunday morning, motorists will will encounter delays at the Monticello Avenue and Greensprings Road intersections of John Tyler Highway.

In order to help counteract the Sunday slow-downs on the road, police will direct traffic during the triathlon. County officials advise drivers to be wary of bicyclists, who will be riding on the roads throughout the weekend.
