VIRGINIA BEACH — Get the blankets and lawn chairs ready because vintage airplanes are set to fly to a live orchestra in Pungo.
The Military Aviation Museum is hosting its 7th annual Flying Proms Symphony Air Show at its museum in Pungo Saturday at 7 p.m.
Modeled after traditional English classical music concerts, local performance group Symphonicity will play tunes from aviation-themed films as historical aircraft like the P-51 Mustang and Focke Wulf Fw-190 take to the skies.
After the planes land at dusk, the second half of the event begins with a mix of pop and patriotic music. The air show will end with a fireworks display.
While food and beverage vendors will be at the event to sell dinner, snacks, beer and wine, guests are invited to bring their own picnics. Outside alcoholic beverages will not be permitted inside the gates.
Tickets are $35 for adults, $20 for kids. Gates open at 3 p.m.
